Akiv's understanding of intellectual property as a business asset developed through direct entrepreneurial experience. As Co-Founder and CEO of a medical device venture, he navigated the practical challenges of patent protection and IP commercialization. His technical background includes developing flight computers for CubeSat missions, AI-based computer vision systems for autonomous vehicles, and robotic systems for medical applications. This experience provides substantial insight into the innovations he now helps protect.

Akiv holds a JD from Western University, where he concentrated in IP law and corporate law, and developed IP strategies for entrepreneurs in collaboration with the Ivey Business School. His engineering credentials include a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from McMaster University.

His professional experience encompasses work with prominent Canadian IP firms and a leading global advisory practice. He has conducted extensive patent prosecution, prepared patent applications across multiple jurisdictions, handled trademark litigation, and executed IP transactions. In an Intellectual Property Advisory & Valuation capacity, he performed due diligence on international IP portfolios, conducted IP valuations for debt financing in excess of $130 million, and delivered strategic counsel on complex portfolio matters.
